Create breathtaking designs from colored glass!

Glass fusing provides creative stimulation and stunningly beautiful results to even the novice craftsman. Basically, glass elements are combined to create designs then are heated in the kiln until the glass melts ("fuses") together. The fused piece can be made into jewelry, tiles, magnets or reheated to make dimensional forms such as bowls. Art & Soul provides all the tools, glass components, guidance and encouragement needed to create a fabulous project.

Step-by Step: Glass Fusing and "Slumping" Techniques:

1. Select and decorate a blank disk with cut glass pieces, frits (crushed glass), confetti (thin chips of glass), noodles and stringers (thin rods of glass) to create a design.
2. The decorated disk is then fused by firing it in a kiln until the glass melts together resulting in a single piece of glass. At this point the fused glass is ready to be used and admired. It can also be converted into jewelry, tiles, night lights or magnets.
3. Optional 2nd Firing: The fused flat disk can also be refired in a mold in a mold (slumped) to achieve a different shape, such as a bowl or rimmed plate.

Child friendly glass projects designed to provide a completely safe way to work with glass are a specialty at ART & SOUL. Under the guidance of our trained staff, children can create fun projects using smooth pieces of glass such as pebbles, frits, noodles and stringers. NO cutting glass or sharp edges involved.
